Add dialog prompt upon entry of field with specific condition

I'd like to prompt the user with a message if the user enters a specific value in a field (but *still allow* them to enter the date).

Does anyone know any workaround to pop up a dialog message on a condition statement, while still allowing the entry?  I know you can validate the field and prevent certain values, but I want to allow any value, but prompt with a message upon a certain value.  Thanks!
