Bug UX > Views > Finish view (Go Back)

I've a problem when I want to return to the previous screen after completing a form.
Instead of returning to the previous screen, as configured, it returns to the main screen. It is a little uncomfortable in daily use.
I've noticed that it works poorly in any application.

Anyone having the same problem?

Does anyone have this problem??

Hi ,

Just to add, I have not faced this issue. Maybe you could share more details such as specific OS, device , desktop/tablet/mobile mode etc. where you might be facing the issue so that someone else could add their observations or you may wish to approach AppSheet support with such specific details.

Hi @Suvrutt_Gurjar

I didn't have this problem a week ago.

I tried with different SO (Android, IOS, Windows, Mac) same problem.

In UX > Views > Finish view

I tried with....

and..

Same problem

@marinocity ,

Thank you for all the details. It sounds that when you tap to add a record from the "Entradas" summary view,  then a form view called "Ingresar Compra" opens. When you "Cancel' the form, instead of returning to "Entradas" summary view, it returns to "Stock" summary view.

May we know if the form view  "Ingresar Compra"  is on the same same table on which the view "Entradas" is based?

Thanks @Suvrutt_Gurjar

It's a general issue, I tried with an Appsheet free App and I've same problem.

1st try always go to the previuos screen (perfect) but..
2nd try always go to mean view (in this case Table Items)

If I charge any data is exactly the same, only go the previous screen in 1rs try.

Thank you @marinocity

I think you may want to contact support for this issue or someone else may have a guidance for you.

Well it depends how you open the form (from where). But you could specify the view you want to return to in "Finish view". Have you tried that?

Or if that doesen't work, you can even attach an action to the form that is LINKTOROW() or LINKTOFILTEREDVIEW() etc... and have that run on save.

Can you explain me that?

Thanks @KON_TROLL

Yes. You can create an ACTION of type "Go to another view within this app" and type: LINKTOVIEW() or LINKTOROW() or LINKTOFILTEREDVIEW etc. . (this you must decide). Hide the action.

Then you attach that action to the FORM view and this action is triggered on SAVE.

I tried different views and same problem

I'm also facing a similar issue, even though my application hasn't changed any settings. This error has only occurred this week, but not consistently. I suspect it might be influenced by some changes from the AppSheet system.

Please Appsheet, solve this issue!

Have you contacted AppSheet support?

This's a big issue to me since it severely affects user experience & is confusing.

Yes @Swoopy

I'm waiting for a resolution from the team of specialists.

It would be good if every user who has this problem also makes a complaint.

I'm getting the same issue.

Note that because of this I have to postpone AppSheet introduction for new prospects, can't even making a brief demo.

it is a shame.
Views are something basic that should work without problems.
The worst thing of all is that it always worked without problems.

It would be interesting if you also made the claim.

I did in this Post , also had a chat with an AppSheet staff.

I notice that (may be) when AppSheet change something "regarding UX" they would never test with data-entry scenarios. This also might be the reason why they said it would take such a long time to fix.

I don't understand why Appsheet can't solve something so important!

Appsheet support es frustrating and disappointing. ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm facing the same problem. Waiting for the solution.

It would be interesting if you also made the claim with Appsheet support.

Hi,

Im experiencing the same problem. The "Finish View" selection is inconsistent after exiting a form. It makes my apps really slow and sluggish to use. Are there any official statements regarding this ?

@JimmyJimmy

Appsheet Answer.....
Waiting fix

I have also begun seeing recent issues with Form and Detail views not properly returning to their previous view.

When going from an interactive dashboard to a form view, if the form slides in from the right, it works as usual and will return to the dashboard on close/cancel. However, if the form slides in FROM THE LEFT, submitting the form returns to a blank screen / default view. Cancelling the form returns to the wrong dashboard! Another observation is that the "back" button (leftward arrow) is missing from the top-left corner of the app and instead the menu button remains, which should not be the case.

This can be consistently reproduced, and it just started a few days ago without any related changes to my app. It is not any sort of issue in my app or its configuration, nor that of anybody else reporting the issue. This is not a "Feature Request", but a bug/defect recently introduced by AppSheet on the backend and it needs to be treated as such and fixed ASAP!

YES - this is a huge problem and a recent change must have been introduced which breaks the typical behavior. In my experience it is absolutely related to the left/right "slide" animation.

@devingu ,

May we request your updates on this issue?

Thanks for tagging me! I am going to escalate this to our Eng team. Please stay tuned!

Thank you @devingu . Appreciate your help.

Hey everyone, the issue is resolved. Please check from your end, if you still encounter the issue please either leave a comment here or update the support tickets!

I can confirm I am no longer able to reproduce this issue. Thank you @devingu! It seems that new views always slide in from right to left now (and exit in reverse), so I'm guessing that the left to right behavior I was seeing was not supposed to be happening at all. Makes good sense from a UX design standpoint, since the back button and menus are at left.

That was a fast fix!  5 hours from escalation to solved.  Much appreciated.  It's working for me!

I can confirm, now is working OK.
Thanks @devingu

Issue is resolved, I can also confirm. But such kind of bugs from such a reputed brand is not expected. This bug was there from a week as per my experience.

Request to please look into these small basics, before making any changes in the app in future.

Thank you
