Creating a simple Present/Absent list with checkbox.

I run a free social football project with 300 kids. We need to make a list with a name and a box to check if the child was present or absent. I found this tutorial https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Tips-Tricks/How-to-add-a-checkbox-to-a-table-view/mp/318307 but I have zero knowledge to follow this tutorial as some steps appear to require some knowledge of the appsheet. Help me please.
