Custom map background

I have looked through the community info but seem to be missing some core concept. I have a table of floorplans and a table of inspections. I want to see a list of floorplans and then when I select one I want to see the floorplan inspection pins for that floor. In my inspection table the XY Location field uses "LOOKUP([Floor], "Floor Plan Storage", "Floor", "Floor Plan")" as the formula for the map background but this does not seem to work. I created slices for each of the floors and so I get the right pins but the wrong background. I can a list of the floor plans, I can't seem to get it to then show that plan with all the pins.
