Force User Logout After Period Of Inactivity?

We have a requirement from the business that the user is logged out after 15 minutes of inactivity.

Is it possible to force a user logout after a period of time?

Hi @Roland_W

This is not possible.

The best you can is 1 hour, and is possible for Enterprise plan, at a Team Level.

And this is not about tracking user inactivity, but user's session.

Here for reference:

Configure team settings - AppSheet Help

Can you share the reason of such constraint from the business?

Thank you for your response.

The business requires that users are logged out after 30 minutes of inactivity.

My interpretation is that they believe this will help ensure the data remains secure. For example, if someone walked away from their desk, someone with ill intentions couldn't look through the app or the displayed data.

Why don't they set the computer up to do this rather than every piece of software on it?

The computer is set up to do that, but they want a (perceived) extra layer of security by forcing users to log back into the application as well.

We're using security filters on the data as well.

I'm trying to provide info to the business on whether or not this is possible.

That's understandable.

If so, you may want to ensure them of the data protection by enabling security filters: this way, the users will only access the data they are supposed to have access to.

Adding to this, a proper training to good habits such as using Windows+L when leaving the computer (if Windows) could be the good thing to set.
