How to work with ref links

Table 1 has column dealer name. Table 2 has column dealer name. Table 2 is referenced to Table 1. When I want to edit in table 2 it shows a list of the names in Table 1 to choose from. How do I get it to put the right name into the field automatically?

Thank you but this does not answer my question. I still do not understand what formula to use to populate a name in a field in table 2 that relates to the same name in table 1.

If Table 2 has a Ref column that refers to Table 1, then make sure you check Dealer Name in Table1’s column structure as Label; this would show Dealer Name in the Ref column list.
