In order to use LINKTOVIEW() you have to have created a "View" for it to link to.
You can do so by creating a 'New View' under the UX tab. Whatever you name that view is what you link to.
A sheet (or a table) in Google Sheet = A table in AppSheet when you link to it
A table in AppSheet, what you can do (in very brief) :
1. Create a slice (or more) that's like sub-table showing only rows you need (depend on filtering condition used).
2. Creat a view (or more) that's used for displaying a table or a slice in the way you like (calendar, gallery, chart, etc.).
3. Now you have a view (or more) to be used in LINKTOVIEW("view's name from step 2"), such as LINKTOVIEW("example")
Hope this gives you the idea how AppSheet works.
