MariaDB connection CPU overload

Hi community!
Since about two days ago, I noticed that when I try to sync an app that uses a view from MariaDB as a table, the app sync fails - the table is deemed unreadable, and weirdly, my AWS RDS MariaDB database CPU goes to 100% and stays there for the whole time that the app is trying to sync.

I loaded the view in my database viewer and it looks fine. I even recreated it in the db, it loads fine in the db viewer (SequelPro). However, the app is still failing to sync. Any pointers?

Just to note that this is an xlarge instance in AWS that allows 600+ connections and has 2vCPUs, during normal usage the db runs below 5% at most times with short 30% peaks. So I don't believe that the database server has anything to do with the issue - also evidenced by the fact that I can load the view just fine in SequelPro
