Question about search inside REFs

I’m in trouble searching in a dropdown or Refs.
I see the “textual” values (coming from a Label field) but I can not search for them.
The search bar expects to be filled with codes.
Following is my data configuration.

Make sure the label column of the referenced table has SEARCH? enabled:

Hi Steve, search is enabled.
The “same” drop down which acts on the parent table is correctly searchable.
