What language does app sheets expressions come from?
Or is it a truly unique language in its own way?

Google Sheet’s formulas are probably the closest one.

AppSheet expressions are derived from Google Sheets formulas, which are themselves derived from Excel formulas. Ultimately, though, AppSheet expressions are their own thing.
