I had a bit of a lightbulb moment today. And it is to do with Slices..
I had originally though of slices as meerly a convenient was to "sub-divide" a larger dataset by filtering. However now I realise that the "Slice" is the bedrock of the Appsheet model. The "slice" opens up the possibility of attaching Actions to columns. And it also allows for the selection of specific columns. As well of course as providing a method for filtering the base dataset.
But if you ignore the filtering, it opens up a world of possibilities. For example if you want to include all of the records from the base dataset then simply set the filter to "rownumber > 0" or something equally inclusive. You can setup multiple "Slices" like this (which ALL effectively have the same data), and then assign different actions to them when they are used in different views. Brilliant!!
