User preview showing label, production app showing key

Hi! I have a scenario where a column in a view is showing the key in the production app but is correctly showing the label in the preview. Example above of production view showing key. 

This occurred after an app upgrade and I'm not sure why. When I look at the app definition, it shows everything I'd expect to see. 

Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Is the column not set as a Ref?

Is the key column in the ref'd table set as the label column as well?

Are the referenced records loaded into the app? (if they are filtered out by a security filter, it will show the key instead of the label)
