Using Slice or View configuration to define column order...which is preferred?

When I have one View using one Slice (one to one), is there any downside to defining the column display order only in the Slice?

No. You're implicitly doing that anyway if the slice excludes any table columns; so, it would be an extra step to also define an explicit order in the view.
