can i use an external barcode with AppSheet ?

I want to create an inventory app, but i need it to be connected to an external barcode or qr input device, i know it can be easily done with the smartphone camera, but i need to do it with the external device so the user will not use the smartphone at all, the idea is when you scan the code, it automatically save the record in the database or sheet without more steps, can that be done
