"Preview App as" does not work everywhere

In my preview screen I enter this and press Apply:

When I run the app, it does use the foo@ironmountain.com email to show limited rows, but it does NOT use this in the automation area, or in the generated PDF area. In my doc, I have a test:

USEREMAIL() <<USEREMAIL()>>

In the PDF, it shows:

Is this a bug, or am I using this wrong?

I’d say neither. It’s just a limitation of the “preview as” feature. It doesn’t take into account different USERROLE()s based on the “previewed” email either.

Preview App as applies only to the app emulator in the app editor. All app features provided by AppSheet servers, such as Automation, are not affected by Preview App as.

Hmm, this is unfortunate. It would be very useful if it were applicable everywhere.
