External Scanner - GAME CHANGER

the most efficient way to scan continuously is by setting the  iphone camera to scan and setting UX options to auto save/re-open. Although this is fairly proficient it would completely revolutionize the scanning feature if we can have the capability to use an external scanner w/out touhing the phone- TRUE continuous scanning without having to tap on the phone screen.... AUTO RE-OPEN SCAN SCREEN

That would be awesome and appsheet would make dozens of other platforms obselete

How exactly is this not possible right now? Does an external scanner not trigger the auto-save or the auto-reopen?

Apparently not (Past Appsheet Discussion on this topic ). 

I have an app which records pieces produced via the barcode scanning feature and up to 30,000 pieces need to be scanned on any given day. Currently the user must:

1. Open scanner
2. Tap the scanning icon
3. Point camera at barcode
4. Auto save/reopen
5. Tap the scanning  icon 
6. Point Camera at barcode

It would be AWESOME if I could:

1. Open app 
2. Tap Scanning icon 
3. Use an external scanner to enter barcode info continuously. 

This ability will make the app much more user friendly in high volume inventory related tasks, because it would eliminate having to: Tap on the screen 30K times and  you wont be forced to point the camera at the barcode.

Instead it would be much more like when you are checking out at a grocery store... continuous scanning. Imagine if you were at a grocery store and every time the checker scanned an item they then had to tap a screen to be able to scan the next item, it would get annoying and waste a lot of time.
