Server-side Valid If limitation

How about providing a fix for this archaic limitation? 

Interestingly, the client side (user device/browser) correctly interprets the Valid_If  condition, taking into account the column's type and never fails. You can use the condition in Form views and local actions without an issue. Automations however fail. 

Can the same logic implemented in the client side be ported to the server please? Maybe a simple check on the column type to make the server decide whether to apply an IN() statement of a List Subtraction statement.
