When a user logs in using this method and has 2SV enabled for them, they are always asked for a 2SV. My experience with Google 2SV has been that the questions account for some logic so that users are not always prompted when they log in. I'm not sure what algorithm Google employs to decide whether to ask for a 2SV challenge, but it seems like a very clever way to reduce the workload associated with 2SV for my faculty. To ensure that users are only asked for a 2SV when Google deems it necessary, I would like the computer login to react in the same way. I'm not sure whether this is feasible.

Well in your admin console, you can activate the 2FA option "Allow user to trust the device":
