Breadcrumb disappeared since last update on Drive

The last update has put the "x elements selected" text on the navigation breadcrumb, which makes it impossible to navigate between folders once you selected a folder/file. You have to cancel the selection every time before being able to navigate again through your parent or child folders. 

This happens very often, and is excessively annoying, while the former system made the navigation much easier. Possible to roll back to something similar?

This was ID'd about 3 months ago amoungst several other really ill thought out Material Design 3 updates.  At least one has been rolled back so here's hoping...
