AppSheet life expectancy

I’ve been reviewing several no/low code development platforms including AppSheet to update a number of Sheet based projects I’ve developed using Google Script. However, I’ve been burned several times when Google decided to depricate applications and I hesitate to invest time into a project that becomes obsolete when they change their minds.
Does anyone have a view on the “life expectancy” of AppSheet?

Google just announced Appsheet integration within Gmail, and there was an article just a few days back where Praveen spoke about how the idea of apps is being re-assessed, so my interpretation is that Appsheets long term plan is to keep our existing app building tools alive, but use the tools as modular components that they can integrate into larger google products (like sheets, gmail and google calendar).
