Appsheet speed efficiency - Google sheets removing conditional formatting

Does removing conditional formatting/data validation in a large sheet do anything to speed up loading time for appsheet?

Absolutely. Removing any formulas from the sheet as well will speed things up even more.

Generally I think of the g-sheet as data storage only, and try and do all calculations within the AppSheet app itself.


When you have conditional formatting, data validation, or sheet formulas in your g-sheet, every time data is written to the sheet, AppSheet waits for these formulas to recalculate. You can see how this will slow things down considerablyโ€ฆ

  • one edit is submitted by the app to the g-sheet,
  • then all the sheet formulas update (meanwhile, appsheet is waiting).
