Are there any features in AppSheet that can prevent, on a device, data access or data removal should the device become lost of stolen??

@John_Baer1 Hi John, thereโ€™s no built-in feature in AppSheet that will automatically lock the app in case the device is lost or stolen.

For such a feature to work, the app must have a way of detecting when the device becomes lost or stolen. This is usually done at the deviceโ€™s operating system level.

For instance, for Android devices, if the lost device is logged into your Google account and has access to the Internet, you can go to Google to request Google to lock your device. Google will then talk to the deviceโ€™s operating system over the Internet and ask it to lock the device or even wipe its data. As a result of this, you can say that the device will thus โ€œknowโ€ that it is lost. However, because the operating system will have already locked access to entire the device, it is no longer necessary for individual apps in the device to do so. Hence, thereโ€™s often no need for apps to implement such a feature.

@John_Baer1 If you recently lost an Android device, you can find instructions on how to remotely lock your device here:

support.google.com - Find, lock, or erase a lost Android device - Nexus Help

For Apple devices, you can find the instructions here:

https://support.apple.com/kb/ph2700?locale=en_US Find, lock, or erase a lost Android device - Nexus Help support.google.com

Check out Security -> Options in the editor.

But as above, you really need to enforce device passwords and some sort of RMM tool to make remote changes if required.

Thanks guys!

Do the erase features for Andriod and/or Apple erase all app data?

@John_Baer1 The operating system will only wipe data stored locally in your device. Any app data that is stored in the cloud (for instance, the appโ€™s spreadsheets or images) will not be affected.

Itโ€™s important to note that wiping your device will wipe out local data not only for AppSheet but for all apps in the entire device.
