Colored status

hello, i am trying to create a colored status column, by wich the the color would be selected by the data from an another column.
ex:[status]=green if [tire_depth]=8, or ,
[status]=yellow if [tire_depth]=<7,or,
[status]=red if [tire_depth]=>9
the addition or change would trigger the change of colors in [status]

I forgot to say that i would liked it to be automatically [status]updated when a[tire_depth] is added or change.

Oh so you need to add an app formula to the [status] column.
