File Links via PDF/Excel

Hi, is it possible to have a file link in excel the same way a PDF links it?

Two reports the eaxct same - 1 is excel format and the other is a PDF

I can click the link in the PDF report and open up the file but cannot do so through excel?

Is there a particular reason for this?
