Format date as due date in column if exceeded

If I have a column contains a due date, and I need to format to be red if this dates exceeded.

Dear Steve, I tried to put the formula as shown

[Due Date] = TODAY()

It is now working prefect โ€ฆ the date turned into red color as formatted.

Hi Steve, Yes I am aware to use the Format Rules, my doubt about the formulaโ€ฆ

If the column is named (Due Date) and I need the formula to show that if the due date exceeded

I tried [Due Date] > Today() it is not allowed

Please post a screenshot of the error.
