How to use Base type and Input mode of Color Type

Is there any use case to change the Base type and Input mode of Color Type?
I always use the Text and Auto settings.

The background of my question is that I can’t think of any use case to change Base type, and I feel strange that the UI doesn’t change even if I change the setting of Input mode.

One might want to make the base type Ref to allow localization of the user-visible color name.
