Is there an easy way to automatic format/change a scanned vallue to something else from a referenced table ?

For example when I scan a product number I want the name of the product appear in the field instead of a number.

if you have a lookup table where the item details including its scanned code ,name and description available, you can get to display the name,

description in current table when you scan an item that is in lookup list by using a Select statement for example.
