Preview announcements

The AppSheet Preview program lets app creators try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. Learn how to participate in the AppSheet preview program for app client features.

  • No new preview features were released today.

Item Description
Feature Send dynamic emails from a bot.

Configure a bot to send a dynamic email to one or more recipients based on an event. Dynamic email leverages dynamic email in Gmail (using AMP) and enables users to interact directly with your app in the email rather than clicking out to view the AppSheet app in a separate window.

For more information, see Sending dynamic email from a bot and the community announcement.

Feature Table view

Table View now supports freezing the first column while scrolling horizontally. For details, see Freezing the first Column of a Table View - in Preview Program.

Feature Chart Editor

App Creators can now make use of our new chart editor and the new and improved charts it can create. Learn more.

Feature Detail views

Rich text formatting is now available in Detail views. For details, see this announcement in the community.

Enhancement Update deck view row heights depending on content available

Currently, deck view rows have a fixed height regardless of how much content you have. With this update, AppSheet adjusts the row size to fit the form factor based on what columns you’re displaying. For more information, see the community announcement.

Absolutely! Here is some additional detail from the developer!

We’ve added a warning banner that lets you know the view needs to be updated and a refresh button that lets you refresh the view anytime. Here’s an example:

Thanks for the inquiry!

Thanks for the feedback.
Just curious when this warning banner will be displayed?

We open the dynamic email and leave the email open, then we change the value of this record from the app?
Also wondering what is going to happen if we close the dynamic email without hitting “refresh” button and then reopen the dynamic email. Then the warning banner is gone, or the email body is fully refreshed?

Great questions!

The warning banner will be displayed when the user makes a change through the Dynamic Email and as a result of this change, other parts of the view changed. For example, a label change, value change, editable_if, show_if, etc. will result in the banner showing. And refreshing will show you the view with the latest updates.

Any time the dynamic email is closed and re-opened, the email body will be fully refreshed (so in this case, no warning banner would be shown because of the refresh).

Hope that helps clarify!

Hi @Sarmad_Hashmi

Thank you for detailed clarification, this is helpful to foresee what the new function will bring to us.
Reading through your comment, I suppose we still need to explicitely hit the refresh button once we fire the data change action button, is it correct?
For example, set up dynamic email to call for approval to the line-managers, then they receive dynamic email where we place the data change action prominent button on the top. They hit action to approve. Still they need to hit another “refresh” button to get the view to be updated? If so, any plan to get the view to be refreshed automatically, reflecting the users interaction such as data change by action?

Thank you.
