why is the slide not working when another item is in line?

If you:

have more than 1 record in the same table
are looking at the Detail
and have the Slideshow option turned on for that view

Then it should be working.

yes it just doesnt change for some reason -

Did you thoroughly check all 3 conditions?
Did you try saving or reloading the editor?
Are you in a slice view that maybe has limited the records to 1?

I think I have the same or similar problem.
I have a “Related” list Column in a Parent table.
This is included in the Detail view for the Parent table and so shows as an Inline view.
In fact there are two problems:

Which ever line of the Related Inline view I click on it only show the Detail View for the top row.
When this Detail View record is shown, nothing happens when I click on the arrows to advance to the next record.

I can confirm that the Slide Show is enabled on all the Detail views and there is more than one Related item.

I would suspect an issue with your key values. Did you set appropriate key values? UNIQUEID() is extremely highly recommended.

I haven’t needed to do that as the data is imported from another system and should already have a unique key id value, but I will double check this, maybe there is an issue there I have missed, thanks.

Yes, you were correct @Marc_Dillon , I did have a column with a unique key value but that wasn’t the column that was set to be the Key!
