Stop group headings using specific row formatting

How do I stop the group headings from picking up the formatting of the first row in the group? In the screenshot the group heading are shown in black boxes.

The rows in any particular group can be in different states, so the heading should not reflect the state of any one of them!

If you can’t remove the format rule for that grouped column, add a virtual column without format rule and then group with that column.
