Chart Plotter only uses numeric values as chart columns

Dear members/ users,

For my simple fish registration Web App I would like to make a chart plot of a fish 'species' and the 'waterdepth'.

Now the problem is that I cannot select 'species" as a column for the chart plotter because it only looks like it is accepting numeric values.

Is there a way to change this?
