Getting Decimals in a number column

is there a way to allow decimals in a number column? When I try to change the increment up by 0.25, I get an error message. When I try and change it to decimals it also causes an error message? is there something that I need to do in the sheet or table to allow for it to accept decimals?

No, because a Number column is for integers, a Decimal column is the one you want. You can then configure it to increment by 0.25
