Is there a way to tell when the last time the device pulled in the definition from the backend?

You mean last sync?

@Aleksi_Alkio yes, like the kind if Sync where you receive other users changes.

If you add a very simple table with one column & row and then you add a virtual column NOW(), you can read the last sync time with the lookup where ever you need it.

Sheet formula won’t work. You need to use virtual because when the table doesn’t have any meaning, you won’t open the record (you can even hide that view) and then you can be sure that the NOW() is recalculated only when you sync the app.
