Yes, AppSheet has built in Login/Logout capabilities that leverages authentication services such as s Google, Microsoft, DropBox, etc account.  Apps that are configured to require user login do require a paid monthly license for each user.   The advantage of an authentication services is they have security checkpoints embedded to more accurately identify the person logging in is who they say they are.  Two factor authentication and login notifications are part of these services.

Many try to avoid the cost of the per user licenses and build their OWN login feature into a Public app.  This might be fine for apps that don't really need tight security.  It is basically an "on-your-honor" type security system.  But you have no control over who is actually setting up an account or logging in.  It is too easy for someone to take over an account OR just create their own to gain entry into the app.  If they should do something bad, you have no way whatsoever to identify that person.
