Is it possible to use the action: โadd a new row to this table using the values from this rowโ, then open that new row in a form view? Using an action sequence?
Yes. The main issue is finding the key value of the new row to use in the second actionโs LINKTOROW expression. You can do that a couple of ways, probably the easiest is with MAXROW(โฆ , โ_rownumberโ). a Less computationally-intensive way is to add a column to the table youโre coming from that would temporarily hold a UNIQUEID() value, which you would use to populate the key value of the new record, AND easily link to it.
The only reason to do this instead of just LINKTOFORM() is to force the creation of a record, in case the user would just hit cancel from the form. Is this what youโre wanting?
Yes! I was wondering how to find the ID on a new row, are there examples? Thanks Marc!
Actually I found an app example, thanks again!
