USERNAME() Not Returned as expected

Using

USERNAME() & " - " & USERROLE()

as an App Formula does not return the USERNAME?

Its returns

• Admin

Any Ideas? Is it a bug?

USERNAME() on its own works when a record is first created! Weird behaviour.

The use of USERNAME() is deprecated and not recommended.

Perhaps the AppSheet developers should tale it out of the expression helper?

It still works in some cases, so some app creators may still find it useful. It’s just not reliable. Note, too, that the user themselves may have the ability to modify their own name, so you should not consider the value provided by USERNAME() at all trustworthy.
