When our user keys in a phone number into a new record from mobile device the โ€˜โ€˜ is not an option. The result is the phone displayed 2224447777.

Is there a way for a mobile user to key in โ€˜โ€˜?

Is this a numeric keyboard problem?

I believe so.

The keyboard doesnโ€™t have the dash key.

Add an initial value like โ€œ-โ€ and then they can have it.

Soโ€ฆ

the problem is the deviceโ€™s existing keyboard, not the app itself.

@Aleksi_Alkio

A bit cumbersome for the user.

Any other practical options?

Correct not a problem with the app.

Looking for a work-around.

Thanks

Another solution is that you add an action which will change the format right after the saving. If the user adds the number wrongly, the โ€œ-โ€ can be in wrong place.

@Aleksi_Alkio The keyboard does allow others such as โ€˜+โ€™.

Maybe the mobile and non mobile users(our employees) always use โ€˜+โ€™ rather than โ€˜-โ€˜.

Do you see any format, etc issues with this idea?

I believe sending SMS or trying to call to that number may not work.
