XY and Scanner

I've just found that the (QR/Barcode) scanner does not work with XY column type. Is there other setting required to make it work?

In some situation, scanning the fixed coordinates from barcodes is very helpful (faster than locating pin on map).

Scan to a Text column then make the XY column a virtual column that mirrors the Text column.

Thanks Steve, but the work around leads to many modification in UX.

Instead I just installed a barcode-keyboard app used for the XY input (no editing in the apps required).
