Now with the merger, will appsheet be able to trigger a Google Script with onEdit.

This has nothing to do with the Google merge unfortunately. By-design and by-default - as the name refers to - onEdit() needs manual interaction by the gSheet. You can achieve the same result with onChange() installable trigger with AppSheet.
