Bug fixes

Item Description
Bug Fix searching by task type in the new editor layout

We released searching by a task type in February, but as an oversight you could only search by a subset of what is shown as the type - "Email" vs "Send an email" for instance. So if you searched just "Send" or even "Send an email" nothing would show. This is fixed so that any part of a type will still keep those tasks of that type in the search results.

Bug When typing expressions in Expression Assistant, undos will no longer cause previous app-level edits to be undone.

Rollout changes

Item Description
Bug An issue has been fixed that was causing [_THISROW] to return an invalid value when used within a bot automation.

Preview announcements

Preview feature releases enable you to try out new app features that are not yet fully supported. See Product launch stages.

  • No new preview features were released today.

What's currently available in Preview?

The following tables summarize the preview features that are currently available.

Item Description
Feature AppSheet databases (Preview)

The new AppSheet database feature is now in preview release. An AppSheet database is a first-party, native data source for organizing and managing data powering AppSheet apps. An AppSheet database provides an easy and efficient way to build data models for any AppSheet app without needing to use an external data source solution such as cloud-based spreadsheets or databases.

For more information, see:

Enhancement Navigation improvements in AppSheet app editor (Preview)

The app editor includes navigation improvements, currently in preview, to facilitate the configuration of specific features. For example, the new Settings section in the left navigation gathers together all app-wide settings and makes it more intuitive for all app creators to find these types of settings.

For more information, see:

Enhancement Additional usability improvements in AppSheet app editor (Preview)

The app editor includes navigation and app setting improvements, currently in preview, to facilitate the configuration of specific features. The navigation improvements now include a secondary navigation panel that lets you quickly scan all of your components. In addition, there are more direct links in your View component to the table, column, or action that you want to check or edit. Finally, error and warning messages are more prominently displayed in the app.

For more information, see:

Feature AppSheet apps for desktop users (Preview)

The new desktop design, currently in preview, is optimized for desktop browsers, presenting a more complete view of information with a consistent organization and structure. The new desktop design lets users navigate their apps more easily and access information in context, and provides an efficient way to edit existing records without losing context. The legacy desktop design, enabled by default, provides an experience similar to the mobile and tablet device.

For more information, see:

The following features require opt-in to the AppSheet preview program. The AppSheet Preview program lets app creators try out new app features that are not yet fully supported.

Item Description

Is it just a relocation from the bottom to the top?

I m more curious when and how we can make sure to get those suggestions once we add new sheet to the source Sheet.  Based on our past experiences, sometime we see the suggestion as soon as we added new worksheet to the Sheet, but sometime Not.   Even we reload and refresh the editor, we can see the suggestion for newly added sheet sometime.  There is no routine. If we are lucky, we could see the suggestion. Not sure what mechanism is sittting behind our scene. Your investigation and clarity are both apprechated how to get the suggesetion "All the time" after new sheets are added to the source.

Was removing the ability to quick edit from dashboards a part of this update?

Where do I find this new desktop mode? I have not made a change to any of my appsheet apps in months.

That does seem to bring it back. Don't really see any reason that adding a preview should break functionality that has existed for at least 3 nearly 4 years. Seems pretty silly and extremely aggravating to anyone that is currently using that feature in their core app functionality who now has to enable a setting in production that even Appsheet themselves explicitly don't think should be enabled in production.

@lizlynch Any news and advice over my query yet?

@Koichi_Tsuji
This specific change is relocation only. Unfortunately, the backend architecture can sometimes lead to the recently added sheet not being visible. We have an item in backlog to improve this or provide an option to force refresh (which will be slow), however it is not prioritized yet.

I am unable to give you an ETA on when that will be implemented, but will bring it up with my team to see if we can reprioritze it.
