AppSheet is a “no code” platform which makes app building a relatively quick and easy thing… once you have your head around a few basics.
If you’re like me you’ll probably dive right in and start building without reading this stuff and end up wasting a great deal of time going in circles. Trust me, if you can manage it, take a couple of days to go through this stuff first. The time you loose up-front will easily be made up later…
Not exhaustive and in no particular order, here are a few links I found useful:
The first 5 links are lifted straight out of AppSheet’s initial welcome message:
1. AppSheet: The Official AppSheet 101 Course
2. AppSheet: App Design 101 Guide
3. AppSheet: Essential Starter Articles
4. AppSheet: YouTube Channel
5. AppSheet: Community
This has to be my top resource! I rate the very highly and could not have built my app without the help of the very talented people that hang out here and give so freely (and patiently) of their knowledge and time! AppSheet Community Forum
6. AppSheet: Learn How To Use AppSheet
7. AppSheet: Documentation
Quality documentation. Well written and consistent. Easy-to-reach and easy enough for even me to understand.
8. AppSheet: Sample Apps
Giving users access to that demonstrate functionality and learning principles was an inspired idea. I continue to learn a great deal here. Another very useful resource. Free Sample Apps
9. AppSheet: Office Hours
These webinars share intermediate/advanced tips & tricks for using AppSheet, introduce new features, and take live Q&A from app creators.
After I bumped my head enough times on my new app I stopped and went through the links above and found I needed a little more. Here’s where I found some extra stuff which I found very helpful!

Over the past few months I’ve been working on building a system to deliver a new type of resource for the community, one that would give people step-by-step guides on how to implement specific functionalities in their apps. Things like:
How to delete child records with parent records
How to use Gravatars
Quickly implementing an avatar builder
How to turn on/off quick edits using actions
What sets these resources apart is the fact that they are presented directly insi…

If you want to customize the base layer of your map view, consider ‘XY’ column types. When the column type is marked as ‘XY’ you’ll see the option in your column definition to link to a hosted image (that will serve as your map base layer).
After including a link to the map image, you’ll be able to add points to that image, just like you’d add lat/long points on a map. Your XY coordinates will be percentages across the height/width of the background image (50,50 will be the center).
Is it possible to add an action that shows all the related pins in the related location?

Just thought of posting use of card views to make useful dashboard reports.
There are some challenges, but these are because of extending use of card views for dashboard purpose. The card views in themselves work nicely. Kudos to
@morgan and AppSheet team for these versatile card views.
So I created a test app based on some test data. The below screenshot shows the card view in desktop mode from that test app.

https://www.filestack.com/ is required in order for each developer to have their own API key and track usage. The free version offers up to 1000 ‘transformations’ a month.
I have no affiliation with Filestack and do not stand to gain from users signing up. I was going to post as a sample app but I don’t want the usage counting against the limit on my free account.

What will be formula to IF column X Contains Value Yes then copy Data from above Row
HI Appsheet, a beginner here. I’m having trouble with the show_if function not fully working.
I have column A with enumlist with list for example “one”, “two”, “three”, “four”, “five”, “six”, & “none”.
Now i want column B to show only if 1 or any 2 or more of the choices in column A are selected except the choice “none”.
I did this condition but seems not working right:
Thanks in advance for any help.
In the UX > Brand section of the editor, the loading screen of each can be customized so that whenever the app is manually synced, users see an image or animation while waiting for fresh data to load.
Check out some of the animation ideas below for getting started customizing your loading screens (copy the image link into the ‘Launch Image’ field of your app brand settings)
When building Dashboards, make sure you try enabling ‘Interactive’ mode - if your views are built from similar or related tables, they will dynamically change as items are selected.
Here’s another example of a calendar of events that is related to 3 other tables: Staff Members, Inspection Points & Facilities.
Recent dashboard updates now allow end app users to customize the layout of the dashboard they’re using to best fit the sc…
We just added an initial version of a new action ‘Data: add a new row to another table using values from this row’
Please try it and give us feedback. Documentation, etc coming later this week. The brief version is here: let’s consider an example with Orders and OrderDetails as two related tables in an app.
Add an action ‘CreateChildRow’ to the Orders table that will add a row to the OrderDetails table. You can specify expressions to assign to each column of this row. For example: Order = [O…
